An introduction to one of the many skills utilized in acceptance and commitment therapy. While this is only one of the many acceptance and commitment therapy defusion exercises, it is one of the best, one I have personally witnessed several of my patients find most useful in dealing with anxiety, depression and chronic illness.
Learn how to defuse or separate yourself from your thought so that it becomes possible to "see" the thought that is running the show. If this can be accomplished (and in my experience with myself and others, it can, when practiced) it is then possible to consciously choose your next course of action instead of pressing onward mindlessly.
